2023 Wagner-Stempel Riesling Trocken
Wagner-Stempel is a celebrated Rheinhessen estate based in Siefersheim, in the cool north-western reaches of the region. Run by Daniel Wagner, the estate works organically on porphyry-rich slopes and has long been counted among Germany's most precise dry-Riesling specialists. This Riesling Trocken is the gateway to the estate's range.
Grape variety: 100% Riesling.
Terroir: Stony, porphyry-rich slopes around Siefersheim, in the cooler north-western corner of Rheinhessen. Organically farmed.
Vinification: Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, ageing on fine lees, no malolactic fermentation - a precise, mineral-driven style.
COLOUR: Pale yellow with green hints.
NOSE: Vineyard peach, apricot, mint and wild herbs over a clear stony minerality.
PALATE: Dry, taut and lively, with firm acidity and a long, saline finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Excellent with light fish dishes, oysters, fresh salads and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Serve at 9-11°C.
