2017 Gérard Bertrand 'Heritage 462' Languedoc
From Gérard Bertrand's Heritage range, '462' takes its name from the Roman fortified town of Tautavel established in AD 462. The cuvée pays homage to the timeless Languedoc terroir and the heritage of Mediterranean winemaking.
Grape varieties: A classic Languedoc blend led by Syrah and Grenache.
Terroir: Sun-drenched limestone-clay slopes of the Languedoc, cooled by Mediterranean and mountain breezes.
Ageing: Aged for 12 months partly in French oak barrels, partly in stainless steel.
COLOUR: Deep ruby with violet highlights.
NOSE: Black fruit, garrigue, liquorice and gentle wood spice.
PALATE: Full-bodied and silky, with ripe tannins, lifted fruit and a long, savoury finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, beef stews, game and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.
