2018 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux - Magnum

Pavillon Rouge is the second wine of the legendary First Growth Château Margaux, with origins stretching back to 1908. Today it is selected from a rigorous proportion of the harvest - barely 30% - alongside the grand vin and a third wine, ensuring outstanding quality. 2018 was a magnificent vintage in Margaux, and the magnum format adds presence and ageing potential.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Terroir: The historic gravel terraces of Margaux, with deep Quaternary gravels over clay subsoil. Mild oceanic climate.

Vinification & ageing: Plot-by-plot vinification with rigorous selection. Aged for 18-22 months in French oak barrels (a high proportion new).

COLOUR: Deep, vibrant ruby.

NOSE: Perfumed bouquet of blackcurrant, violet, dark cherry, cedar and warm spice.

PALATE: Full-bodied and silky, with fine, polished tannins, lifted fruit and a long, refined finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Pair with rack of lamb, prime rib, truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses. Cellar 15-25 years; serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
