2018 Clos Fourtet Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé

Clos Fourtet is one of Saint-Émilion's historic estates, named Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1955. Owned by the Cuvelier family since 2001, its 22-hectare walled vineyard sits on the limestone plateau just steps from the village of Saint-Émilion. 2018 is one of the great Right Bank vintages of recent decades.

Grape varieties: Approximately 85% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Terroir: 22-hectare walled vineyard on the celebrated limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, with clay-limestone topsoil over limestone subsoil and an extensive system of underground cellars carved into the rock.

Vinification & ageing: Plot-by-plot fermentation, malolactic in barrel, aged 16-18 months in French oak barrels with a significant proportion of new oak.

COLOUR: Deep ruby.

NOSE: Complex bouquet of black cherry, plum, violet, cedar and a chalky mineral note.

PALATE: Full-bodied and elegant, with polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, mineral finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Excellent with duck, lamb, truffled risotto and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
