2016 Dragomir Grand Reserva Rubin

Dragomir's Grand Reserva is the pinnacle cuvée of this family-run Thracian Valley estate near Plovdiv, run by oenologists Natalia Gadjeva and Konstantin Stoev. Produced in tiny batches and matured for an exceptional length of time, it represents one of Bulgaria's most ambitious modern reds. Rubin is a Bulgarian crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah, capable of remarkable depth and longevity.

Grape variety: 100% Rubin.

Terroir: Selected old-vine parcels in the Thracian Valley near Plovdiv, on clay-limestone and alluvial soils. Warm continental climate moderated by the Rhodope and Sredna Gora ranges.

Vinification & ageing: Each varietal lot is fermented separately and aged for 42 months in new French oak barriques, then blended and returned to barrel for a further six months before bottling.

COLOUR: Inky deep ruby.

NOSE: Profound, layered bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, leather, smoke and exotic spice.

PALATE: Full-bodied and concentrated, with velvety tannins, deep fruit and a remarkably long, savoury finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Pair with slow-cooked lamb, prime rib, game and the most mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
