2015 Château Cheval Blanc Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A
Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most legendary names in Bordeaux, sitting on the border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol with an unusual blend dominated by Cabernet Franc alongside Merlot. The 2015 vintage was a triumph for Saint-Émilion, producing wines of opulence and balance, and Cheval Blanc 2015 has been widely lauded as a modern classic.
Grape varieties: Approximately 52% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, with a touch of Malbec.
Terroir: 39 hectares on a unique mosaic of gravel, sand and clay soils on the border of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.
Vinification & ageing: Hand-harvested, plot-by-plot fermentation, malolactic in barrel. Aged around 18 months in French oak barrels (a high proportion new).
COLOUR: Deep, vibrant ruby.
NOSE: Profound bouquet of black cherry, raspberry, violet, cedar, graphite and subtle spice.
PALATE: Full-bodied, silky and harmonious, with polished tannins, layered fruit and an extraordinarily long finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Cellar for a decade or more; pair with truffle dishes, roast game, aged beef and the finest hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.
