2025 Orbelia Sandanski Misket
Orbelia Winery is a family estate founded in 2013 in the village of Kolarovo, in Bulgaria's sun-drenched Struma Valley at the foot of Belasitsa Mountain. Their Sandanski Misket is a fragrant, modern Bulgarian white that perfectly captures the warm-yet-fresh character of southern Bulgaria.
Grape variety: 100% Sandanski Misket - a modern Bulgarian variety, a crossing of Shiroka Melnishka, Tamyanka and Cabernet Sauvignon, noted for its intense floral and citrus aromatics.
Terroir: The Struma Valley (Thracian Lowlands sub-region), with warm Mediterranean influences, sandy and stony soils, and breezes coming down from Belasitsa.
Vinification: Cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the variety's lifted aromatics, with a short period of lees contact for added texture.
COLOUR: Pale gold with delicate green nuances.
NOSE: Fresh citrus, lime peel and white flowers, with subtle tropical hints.
PALATE: Well-balanced, with good acidity and a long, gently aromatic finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Perfect with fish and seafood, vegetarian dishes, pasta and soft cheeses. Serve at 8-10°C.
