2024 Cazas Novas 'Colheita' Avesso Vinho Verde DOC
Cazas Novas is a quality-driven Vinho Verde producer based in Santa Marinha do Zêzere, in the Baião sub-region at the meeting point of the Vinho Verde and Douro zones. The 'Colheita' Avesso is the estate's modern, lees-aged take on Baião's local hero grape.
Grape variety: 100% Avesso.
Terroir: Baião sub-region of Vinho Verde, on granitic soils at altitude. The cooler, more sheltered conditions allow Avesso to ripen fully while retaining its hallmark acidity.
Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature, then aged on fine lees for around four months with regular bâtonnage to add texture.
COLOUR: Bright citrus-tinged straw.
NOSE: White-fleshed fruit, lemon zest and white flowers, supported by clear granitic minerality.
PALATE: Fresh and textured, with crisp acidity and a clean, savoury finish.
FOOD PAIRING: A perfect match for grilled fish, seafood rice, ceviche, sushi and goat cheese salads. Serve well chilled at 8-10°C.
