Odyssey Port Wine NV
From the cradle of European winemaking - Bulgaria's Thracian Valley, with its 5,000-year-old viticultural tradition immortalised in Homer's Odyssey - this fortified port-style wine pays homage to the ancient Thracian wine heritage. Made in the time-honoured port style, it is fortified during fermentation to preserve natural sweetness and aged for additional richness.
Style: Sweet fortified red wine in the port style.
Origin: The Thracian Valley, Bulgaria - one of the oldest winemaking regions in Europe.
Vinification & ageing: Fermentation is interrupted by the addition of grape spirit, preserving natural sugars from the grapes. The wine is then aged in oak for additional complexity and a richer, deeper character.
COLOUR: Deep ruby with garnet hints.
NOSE: Rich, sweet bouquet of dried black fruits, fig, dark chocolate, walnut and warm wood spice.
PALATE: Full-bodied and luscious, with concentrated sweetness balanced by gentle structure and a long, warming finish.
FOOD PAIRING: A classic match for chocolate desserts, blue cheeses, dried fruits and walnuts. Also excellent on its own as a digestif. Serve at 14-16°C.
