2022 'One Aliestre' Alentejo
From Portugal's vast Alentejo region, this red showcases the warm, sun-drenched character that has made Alentejo a global favourite for generous, fruit-forward reds. The region's combination of warm summers, cool nights and varied soils produces wines that are bold yet smooth.
Grape varieties: A traditional Alentejo blend, typically built on indigenous varieties such as Aragonez, Trincadeira, Castelão and Alicante Bouschet, often with international grapes.
Terroir: The Alentejo region of southern Portugal, with hot, dry summers and a mosaic of granite, schist and clay-limestone soils.
Vinification & ageing: Fermented in temperature-controlled vats with classic punch-down and pump-over extraction; aged in a combination of vat and oak before bottling.
COLOUR: Deep ruby with violet rim.
NOSE: Ripe, generous nose of black cherry, blackberry, plum, sweet spice and subtle cedar.
PALATE: Medium- to full-bodied and rounded, with soft tannins, juicy fruit and a warm, lingering finish.
FOOD PAIRING: A natural with grilled red meats, lamb stews, chorizo and semi-hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.
