2020 Château Pontet Nivelle Bordeaux
Château Pontet Nivelle is a five-generation family estate located in the village of Saint-Avit-de-Soulège in the Bordeaux AOP. This is an easy-drinking right-bank-style Bordeaux, designed for accessible, fruit-forward enjoyment while retaining the structure that the appellation is known for.
Grape varieties: A classic Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Terroir: Clay-limestone and gravelly soils typical of right-bank Bordeaux, with an oceanic climate moderated by proximity to the Atlantic.
Vinification: Traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, with regular pumping over for gentle extraction. A short period of ageing in vat and oak before bottling.
COLOUR: Deep ruby red.
NOSE: Welcoming bouquet of redcurrant, black cherry and ripe plum, with subtle hints of spice and cedar.
PALATE: Rounded and approachable, with supple tannins, juicy fruit and a smooth finish.
FOOD PAIRING: A versatile dinner-table red - serve at 16-18°C with grilled red meats, roast lamb, mushroom dishes and semi-hard cheeses.
