2015 Château Cos d'Estournel Saint-Estèphe 2ème Cru Classé

Cos d'Estournel, the pagoda-crowned 1855 Second Growth of Saint-Estèphe, is one of Bordeaux's most distinctive estates, sitting just across a stream from Château Lafite. The 70-hectare vineyard is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 2015 was a celebrated vintage in Bordeaux, producing wines of polish and depth.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, with smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Terroir: 70 hectares of gravelly soils on the boundary of Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac, with clay subsoils that retain water - particularly valuable in dry, warm vintages.

Vinification & ageing: Plot-by-plot vinification in temperature-controlled vats. Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged around 18 months in French oak with a high proportion of new oak.

COLOUR: Deep ruby.

NOSE: Complex notes of blackcurrant, blueberry, graphite, cedar, dark chocolate and exotic spice.

PALATE: Full-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, lifted fruit and a long, refined finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Pair with roast lamb, prime rib, game and aged hard cheeses. Outstanding cellaring potential of 15-25+ years. Serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
