Ruinart 'R de Ruinart' Brut Champagne NV
Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the world's first established Champagne house, with a heritage rooted in the chalk cellars carved beneath Reims. The classic Ruinart Brut style places Chardonnay at the heart of the blend, drawing on Premier and Grand Cru fruit predominantly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims for the unmistakable Ruinart elegance.
Grape varieties: Chardonnay-led blend (around 40-45%) with Pinot Noir and a smaller proportion of Pinot Meunier, plus reserve wines.
Terroir: Premier and Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, on the classic chalk soils of Champagne.
Vinification & ageing: Traditional method, aged in Ruinart's UNESCO-listed chalk cellars (crayères) carved beneath Reims, on lees for at least two years.
COLOUR: Brilliant pale yellow.
NOSE: Fresh citrus, ripe lemon, juicy pear, peach, white flowers and a discreet spicy lift of ginger and pink peppercorn.
PALATE: Fine and refreshing, with a delicate mousse and an elegant, persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Pair with sea scallop carpaccio, sea bream tartare, oysters and other shellfish, sushi and soft cheeses. Serve at 8-10°C.
