2015 Bollinger 'La Grande Année' Rosé Champagne
'La Grande Année' Rosé is Bollinger's prestige vintage rosé Champagne, produced only in exceptional years. Like its Brut counterpart, the 2015 is built on a Pinot Noir-led foundation from Bollinger's Grand Cru villages, with Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, plus a small addition of still red wine from the famed La Côte aux Enfants vineyard in Aÿ.
Grape varieties: Pinot Noir-led blend (Verzenay, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ), with Chardonnay (Chouilly, Avize), and a touch of still red wine from La Côte aux Enfants.
Terroir: Predominantly Grand Cru villages on Champagne's classic chalk soils.
Vinification & ageing: Fermented in oak barrels with additional still red wine for colour. Aged on lees in bottle well beyond the appellation minimum.
COLOUR: Pale salmon-pink.
NOSE: Complex bouquet of red cherry, wild strawberry, blood orange, brioche, warm spice and chalky minerality.
PALATE: Plush and structured, with deep red-fruit concentration, a fine mousse and a long, vinous finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Magnificent with lobster, duck breast, salmon, raspberry-based desserts and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 10-12°C.
