2023 Cazas Novas 'Origem' Avesso Vinho Verde DOC
The 'Origem' is the more ambitious cuvée in Cazas Novas's Avesso line-up, sourced from select parcels in Baião at the eastern edge of Vinho Verde, where altitude and granitic soils give the grape extra concentration and tension. It shows the more serious, age-worthy face of Avesso.
Grape variety: 100% Avesso.
Terroir: Selected old-vine parcels in Baião, on granite-derived soils at altitude. The cool nights and warm days favour aromatic complexity and structure.
Vinification & ageing: Fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel, with extended ageing on fine lees and partial barrel ageing to add depth without obscuring the grape's purity.
COLOUR: Bright pale straw with golden hints.
NOSE: Aromatic and concentrated, with white peach, citrus, white flowers and a fine mineral note.
PALATE: Structured and textured, with a creamy core, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Excellent with grilled or roasted fish, lobster, white meats and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 10-12°C.
