2022 Clos Bibliothèque 'Terre Princière' Chardonnay
The 'Terre Princière' Chardonnay from Clos Bibliothèque comes from a high-density vineyard (6,100 vines per hectare) near the Black Sea, in the village of Nevsha. Aged in new Burgundy oak from Tonnellerie Chassin under the guidance of French consultants, it represents the precise, perfectionist style this boutique Bulgarian estate is becoming known for.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay.
Terroir: The Black Sea region near Varna, with mild maritime influences and calcareous soils that lend balance and minerality. High-density planting encourages the vines to compete and produce more concentrated fruit.
Ageing: 18 months in new French oak barrels from Tonnellerie Chassin, followed by additional time in bottle before release.
COLOUR: Bright golden hue.
NOSE: Refined aromas of ripe stone fruit, citrus, vanilla and toasted hazelnut.
PALATE: Full and creamy, with well-integrated oak, lively acidity and a long, mineral finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Excellent with lobster, roasted poultry, veal in cream sauce and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 12-14°C.
