2020 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge

Château de Beaucastel is one of the most iconic estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, run by the Perrin family since 1909 and farmed organically and biodynamically for over 50 years. The grand vin is famously a blend of up to 13 grape varieties, expressing the full diversity of the appellation's celebrated galets roulés.

Grape varieties: The full Châteauneuf assemblage of up to 13 varieties, typically led by Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah and Counoise.

Terroir: 70-hectare vineyard on the famous galets roulés (rolled pebbles) over clay-limestone subsoil, in the northern reaches of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Organically farmed for over half a century.

Vinification & ageing: Plot-by-plot, variety-by-variety vinification. The signature heated grape-pre-treatment, long maceration and ageing in large oak foudres for around a year before bottling.

COLOUR: Deep ruby.

NOSE: Complex bouquet of black cherry, kirsch, garrigue, leather, black olive and warm spice.

PALATE: Full-bodied and structured, with firm yet ripe tannins, layered fruit and remarkable length.

FOOD PAIRING: Cellar for a decade or more; pair with roast lamb, game, daube of beef and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
