2019 Château Cos d'Estournel Saint-Estèphe 2ème Cru Classé

Founded in 1811 and classified Second Growth in 1855, Cos d'Estournel is the iconic estate of Saint-Estèphe, instantly recognisable for its pagoda-topped chai overlooking the vineyard of Lafite. 2019 is widely hailed as a magnificent Bordeaux vintage, combining ripeness with freshness and producing wines of remarkable purity and balance.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, with smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Terroir: 91 hectares in Saint-Estèphe on deep gravel and clay soils, sitting just across a stream from Château Lafite. Oceanic climate.

Vinification & ageing: Plot-by-plot fermentation in temperature-controlled vats; malolactic fermentation in barrel. Aged 18-22 months in French oak barrels with a significant proportion of new oak.

COLOUR: Inky purple.

NOSE: Powerful, refined bouquet of blackcurrant, dark cherry, liquorice, cedar, graphite and exotic spice.

PALATE: Full-bodied and seamless, with cashmere tannins, deep fruit concentration and a remarkably long finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Cellar over a decade, then pair with prime rib, venison, truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.

We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
