2011 Château Cheval Blanc Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A
Château Cheval Blanc is one of Saint-Émilion's most legendary names, formerly Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Sitting on the border with Pomerol, its singular gravel-and-clay terroir is planted to an unusual majority of Cabernet Franc alongside Merlot. The 2011 vintage offers a more classical, elegant style of Cheval Blanc.
Grape varieties: Approximately 52% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot, with a touch of Malbec.
Terroir: 39 hectares on a unique mosaic of gravel, sand and clay soils on the border of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.
Vinification & ageing: Hand-harvested, plot-by-plot fermentation, malolactic in barrel. Aged around 18 months in French oak barrels with a high proportion of new oak.
COLOUR: Deep ruby with garnet hints.
NOSE: Perfumed bouquet of black cherry, raspberry, violet, cedar, graphite and subtle truffle.
PALATE: Silky and refined, with finely woven tannins, vibrant red fruit and a long, savoury finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Beautiful with roast lamb, duck, truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C.
We deliver in Sofia and across Bulgaria. Pickup available at the bar at 33 Sveti Kliment Ohridski Street during opening hours.
